Sometimes things just turn out well. This is not a double exposure but a conscious us of reflected surfaces. What I didnt realise at the time was how well the form in the background (‘The Age of Bronze’) complements the face of the reflected foreground figure. This was shot on 35 mm film.

This shot of Justin was taken a couple of years ago at a show he had in Whitstable. Since then he has been developing his jewellery, exquisite casts from insects and other natural sources. His work can be seen at www.justingilday.co.uk
A shaft of light from the nave window in the little church of Iping in West Sussex transformed this shelf of fruit into a luminous composition that in its stillness reminded me of the still-lifes of the great Spanish painter Zurbaran.
