The London Jazz Festival

Two very contrasting images from this years festival, the exhilaration of the youthful Francine Luce from Jerry Dammers wonderful Spatial AKA and the tired reflection of the man who has seen it all on the London jazz scene for over 50 years? Photographs, as we all know can tell a very misleading story…Peter King the veteran alto player who played at the opening night of Ronnie Scotts back in the early 60’s, showed on saturday at the 606 club why he is the Master when it comes to bebop, a worthy British inheritor of Charlie Parker’s crown and an obvious inspiration to the three excellent young turks who played along side of him…respect!
