Portrait of Amor, Madrid

On several trips to Madrid my wife and I have ¬†eaten at a bar just around the corner from our hotel. As a result we have got to know Amor who, as a waitress there, has always treated us with kindness and affection. This year I was determined to make a portrait even though the light in the restaurant was very poor and I had no flash. So this is Rolleiflex on the table, half a second at f2.8. The shot captures something of Amor’s cheerful character and her resilience as a foreign worker and the only woman employed in the bar.
