At Christmas with all the family around I think of and miss my Mother who died in 1975. This  shot of her was taken by my Dad when she was about 19 or 20 and working at Kodak, It remains the image that I keep in my mind when I think of her even though she was not to have me for another three or so years.

This shot of a small corner of Peter Blake’s studio gives some idea of the incredible accumulation of objects that he has brought together over the years.  It’s a wonderfully  humorous collection and a testament to his curiosity and  energy  . I was lucky to get a portrait of the artist himself which is in the ‘portrait’ section of this site.

A fully inclusive entrance policy was operating at the excellent free-jazz night at Faversham’s Fludde festival!

Two very contrasting images from this years festival, the exhilaration of the youthful Francine Luce from Jerry Dammers wonderful Spatial AKA and the tired reflection of the man who has seen it all on the London jazz scene for over 50 years? Photographs, as we all know can tell a very misleading story…Peter King the veteran alto player who played at the opening night of Ronnie Scotts back in the early 60’s, showed on saturday at the 606 club why he is the Master when it comes to bebop, a worthy British inheritor of Charlie Parker’s crown and an obvious inspiration to the three excellent young turks who played along side of him…respect!

The Spirit of Spain came to Whitstable this weekend in the form of the Punta del Boqueron flamenco troup from Cadiz. A wonderful southern energy that set the hall alight on a cold winters night…pass the brandy!

On sunday over 300 people came together in sadness and joy to pay tribute to Mei Leung, a wonderful human being and artist who died at the too-young age of 49 on 14th October. She touched us all with her energy, humour, kindness and generosity (not to mention her cake!). I will never forget her and have learnt much from her example. Fly free dear Mei!
