Dave is one of the guardians of a wonderful area of private forest near Kent University. I took this shot of him against the background of one of the oldest trees in the area. This was the only negative I had and I was initially annoyed that there appeared to be a mark across his face. On scanning the neg I realised it was sunlight and a happy accident, nature’s warpaint.

Stripping wallpaper is a pretty thankless task at the best of times, but this fragment of the past made it all worth while. I guess this is from the beginnings of the house circa 1907 and I had to photograph it before scraping it away.
