This gentleman is a member of the Asociacion Gaditana de Belenistas based in Cadiz. The organisation exists to create large-scale Nativity tableaux which are shown in churches and other institutions and they are a major attraction around Christmas time. Because of the scale of the work they work all the year round at the design and manufacture of the scenes.

Another shot inspired in part by Edward Hopper, the American master of interiors and geometry.

On several trips to Madrid my wife and I have eaten at a bar just around the corner from our hotel. As a result we have got to know Amor who, as a waitress there, has always treated us with kindness and affection. This year I was determined to make a portrait even though the light in the restaurant was very poor and I had no flash. So this is Rolleiflex on the table, half a second at f2.8. The shot captures something of Amor’s cheerful character and her resilience as a foreign worker and the only woman employed in the bar.
